Music Appreciation Time...

My dad likes music - a lot! He has stacks of things he calls cds and has them all arranged on some shelves. Sometimes, I think they need to be re-arranged - but dad doesn't seem to agree.
He'll get used to it!

Dad is coming home...

My dad has been away from us for a week now, he is in Poland with the U19 Women's national team. They have been playing football against Denmark, Sweden and Poland (all very good teams, my mum says) - and guess what? Iceland won the group so now they are going to play in the European cup finals in the summer in Belarus. You go girls!!! Bad thing about that is, that my dad will be away from us again...
On top of it all I've been sick most of the time my dad has been away. I had a high fever for a couple of days so my mum took me to the doctor. The doctor said it was a virus. I probably caught it when I was at a birthday party last week, my friend Birkir Ingi was two-years-old. It was great fun to play with all the kids. But the day after I felt poorly.
My amma (grandma) has been very nice to me, babysitting and playing with me. Afi (granddad) came to Iceland last week and I like hanging out with him.
Oooh, I almost forgot! Afi Steini (my great granddad) was 90-years-old last Monday - that's a lot of years... Unfortunately I couldn't visit him on his actual birthday but there will be a party on Friday, so look out, I'll be there in my party dress.
Happy Birthday afi Steini and welcome home dad!!!

The Generation Gap!

This is a photo of me with my great grandparents, or "long-amma" and "long-afi" as we say in Iceland. It was taken by my mum when we visited them at their home in the Reykjavik suburb of Gravarvogur. My great-grandma's name is Adalbjorg but everybody calls her Didda and my great-grandad's name is Thorsteinn, or Steinni as he is more often called. Despite appearing very interested in a carton of milk he was not a farmer, rather he was a fisherman all his working life operating his own boat out of the town of Faskafjordur in Iceland's east fjords. He is having a party soon to celebrate his 90th birthday. I am sure he will invite me. My grandad Sigurdur (Thorsteinn's son and therefore my mum's dad) is flying in from Sweden especially for the occasion. My dad says we might have to have the fire service on standby because there will be a lot of candles on his cake.

Green, Green Grass of Home!

Just got back from England where I spent Easter with Grandma and Grandad. In England they had this thing called Spring going on - it means warm, sunny weather, lots of beautiful things bursting with colour that mum called flowers, birds singing all day long, trees that had their clothes on (dad said they are called leaves) and best of all they have this soft and silky green stuff all over the place called grass - which was great to play on.
I went to the park to play on the swing and slide, went shopping in Reading, Swindon, Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth and visited my cousins Harry and Josh and my uncle Steve and aunt Jo. My aunt Linda came to stay for a couple of days which meant we had to go to Starbucks a lot. What is it with big people and coffee lattes?
My dad said that I get my own special latte when mum gives me her breast.
I had a lot of fun on this trip - especially because, as with all good English people, grandma and grandad had a lot of carpet - which is so, so much better to crawl on than that hard and slippery parket flooring prevalent (big word for me but hey, what do you expect!) in the Nordic countries. It meant that I could move a lot faster and begin to stand up all on my own just by grabbing something and pulling myself up. A whole new world has just opened up. I really like England and love and miss my my grandma and grandad and can't wait to go back to the green, green grass of home!

Busy bee!

Whew! this week has been busy... in a fun way though. I got my second tooth on Monday, finally! It has been bugging me for a week now, keeping me and my parents awake in the nights. Also, on Monday, "Amma" (my mum's mum) came to Iceland from Sweden. She's going to stay with us for about 2 months, yeeeah.
I've been to the playground for the first time, we played on the swings and went down the slide. I liked the slide a lot. I've been swimming as usual and "Amma" has been baby sitting two nights this week. My mum was playing football with the team that my dad is coaching. All though my dad says she slows down the tempo on practice he's secretly admiring her brazilian football skills... (dad told me mum is paying him to let her come and train). As you can see my week has been very busy but I have not told you the really big news yet.
On Wednesday I finally realized how to crawl forward and boy is that so much more fun than going backwards. We got it documented on video so now you can see the upcoming star in crawling.  Have a wonderful weekend, love you all....Matilda Sóley

To Matilda...

I never felt like this with anyone before
you only have to smile and I'm dizzy
you make the world go round
a thousand times an hour
just touch my head
and send me spinning

I never felt like this with anyone before
you show me colours and I'm crying
you hold my eyes in yours
and open up the world
I can't believe all this

I want to keep this feeling
deep inside of me
I want you always in my heart
you are everything

I never felt like this with anyone before
you fill my head all full of rainbows
and all the rainbows is
is every step you take
is to be with you forever

I want to keep this feeling
deep inside of me
I want you always in my heart
you are everything.

Watch out, tooth coming...

Hello everybody!
Long time, no see ... Sorry, I've been a little bit lazy! Anyway, now that I'm back on the keyboard I might as well tell you what's been going on.
Not much, to be honest. I caught a cold again two weeks ago and have just recovered from that. It meant that I was stuck in the house with mum for a week or so. Don't get me wrong, I love my mum very, very much but being in the apartment 24/7  for a week and a half can be a little too much, even for me! Plus, there has been something bothering me lately that has made me even more cranky. My mum says it is because I'm getting a tooth... and she is right (as always, well its ok to let her think that). I'm officially joining the tooth-club.
Almost forgot to tell you that Noah came for visit yesterday. That was fun, I tried to catch up with him (he's two-years-old) but for some reason I can only crawl backwards. Hmmm... I'm trying to figure that out. I sit on my own now and I can get up on all fours but I can't go forward.
Got to go now, I'm off to see my other boyfriend, Tryggvi. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow...
Bless!!!
